The Jewish Federation of Cleveland will hold its 113th annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. April 20 when it will present its highest honor, the 2017 Charles Eisenman Award for Exceptional Community Service, to Michael Siegal, chair and CEO of Olympic Steel.

International singing sensation Idan Raichel is back in Cleveland! The community is invited attend to a free concert by Raichel as part of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s 69th Independence Day Celebration, on Tuesday, May 2 at 5:30 pm at Landerhaven in Mayfield Heights.

An estimated 1,000 Holocaust survivors live in the Cleveland area. Our community will honor these survivors and remember those who perished during the Holocaust at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and Kol Israel Foundation’s Yom Hashoah V’Hagvurah.

Jared Miller of Solon has been awarded the 2016 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

Clark, who oversaw critical infrastructure protection across physical and cyber risks activities for the Department of Homeland Security in his role as Deputy Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD).

A group of Jewish Clevelanders traveled to Argentina, home to the largest Jewish population in Latin America, on a Jewish Federations of North America mission. On their trip, they visited thriving Jewish communities, toured historic sites and engaged with the leaders charting a bright course for Argentina’s future.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland will continue a 90+ year tradition by recognizing a leader in the community for their exceptional civic contributions. This year, Michael Siegal of Gates Mills is the recipient of the distinguished Charles Eisenman Award. The Federation will honor Siegal and celebrate the strength of our community at the 113th Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 20 at 7:30 pm at B’nai Jeshurun Congregation, 27501 Fairmount Blvd., Pepper Pike. All are welcome to attend this free event.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland and partner organizations are bringing Pro Bono legal advice to low-income Jewish community members.

Three panelists with expertise in higher education agreed that the right to free speech encompasses most controversial things said on college campuses, however, teaching the students how to engage in civil, persuasive discussions is the best bet for ensuring productive dialogue among those with opposing viewpoints.

The U.S. Senate on March 7 joined the Trump administration in addressing the anti-Jewish threats, calling for “swift action” to end them.
