I grew up in Cleveland with a sense of pride in being Jewish. I was a part of a very special B’nai Mitzvah with my cousin; being able to do that with her was amazing. I’m also a third generation Holocaust survivor on my father’s side. I never met my grandfather, who I’m named after – I was born to keep his legacy alive.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland celebrated Tu b'Shevat by reflecting on environmental responsibility, appreciation of nature and interfaith connections in the local community via a seder Feb. 6 at Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland.

Stephanie Wieder of Beachwood is honored to become the new Chair of the Jewish Volunteer Network (JVN) at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Giving her time back to the community is something she’s extremely passionate about. And when she’s not volunteering at Fuchs Mizrachi School and JFSA, or tutoring students at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District through Federation’s PEI program, you’ll see her around town with her husband, Adam, and their three children.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Young Leadership Division (YLD) announced the appointment of Natan Milgrom as Board Chair and Dayna Orlean as Vice Chair, effective January 2018. They succeed Barry Guttman and Milgrom, respectively, who served in these capacities last year.

The Cleveland Israel Arts Connection (CIAC) celebrates experiences that deepen our Jewish identity and share the beauty of Israel with everyone in our community through dance, film, music, literature, theater and the visual arts.

Eleven years ago, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and the Jewish Agency for Israel, a beneficiary agency of Federation, helped to establish Youth Futures – a mentoring program in Israel for at-risk youth. “The essence of Youth Futures is an in-depth mentorship between mentors and at-risk youth,” said Ya’ara Leitner Yagen, Regional Manager of Youth Futures in Israel.

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland, in partnership with Gesher Cleveland and the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, is holding a free legal clinic on March 4 from 9:30 – 11 am at Green Road Synagogue (2437 South Green Road, Beachwood).
