In November 2025, during the government shutdown, SNAP benefits were thrown into uncertainty. When our partners told us what they were seeing, the Federation stepped up to strengthen the safety net so people wouldn't go hungry. We moved quickly with an $85,000 emergency grant to increase immediate capacity at frontline providers.

A few days ago, when a siren sounded in Ofakim, Daniel, a child supported by the Youth Futures program, ran with his family to the safe room. Like many other children, he was frightened. But right after the door closed, the first thing he did was pick up the phone and call his Youth Futures mentor, who supports him.

In schools across Greater Cleveland, teachers and administrators face a rapidly changing reality: students are encountering more antisemitism, ignorance, and bias – often without the tools to understand or respond. For many educators, Jewish and non-Jewish alike, that challenge can feel isolating.
To help address it, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland launched two initiatives designed to support educators and foster more inclusive school environments: the Education Leaders Summit and the Jewish Teachers Summit.

After joining 39 other Cleveland civic leaders on the first biennial Thomas and Joann Adler Civic Leaders Israel Mission in 2017, Jill Zimon, co-chair of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s civil rights mission and former AJC Cleveland president, came up with the idea to visit the South and learn more about Black Americans’ history.

Segula, which means ‘treasure’ in Hebrew, is a partnership between the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland and three local day schools:
Fuchs Mizrachi School, Gross Schechter Day School, and Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School. Segula helps families with children with special needs to be able to access a Jewish education.
