Experience Israel with Summer Internship
Calling all Jewish Clevelanders, aged 20 to 25: If you are ready for a life-changing experience this summer, visit www.clevelandonwardisrael.com to apply for Onward Israel, an eight-week summer internship program in Tel Aviv. Thanks to a partnership between the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and The Jewish Agency for Israel, college juniors, seniors, and graduates can live and intern in Israel from June 10 to August 16, 2015.
“My summer in Israel was amazing,” said Daniel Pearlman, a recent Onward Israel participant, who interned at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University. Onward participants will intern in the fields of the arts, business, finance, communications, non-profits, high-tech, and more. They will also live in modern shared apartments in Greater Tel Aviv and immerse themselves in Israeli culture, as they learn about the important issues facing Israeli society.
“Living and working in Tel Aviv during a time of regional crisis taught me more about myself, the Arab-Israel Conflict, and Israeli society than I could've ever learned at school or in a textbook,” Pearlman said. “I made the effort to learn by experience, and not by sensationalized media coverage. I succeeded in reaching that goal.”
Qualified applicants are students or recent grads from or currently living in the Greater Cleveland area. Applicants must have had one previous, short-term Israel experience, such as Birthright or a teen travel program. Program cost is $500 plus airfare.
Limited spots are available. Rolling Admission is through January 15, 2015. For more information about Onward Israel, contact Ilanit Gerblich Kalir at ikalir@jcfcleve.org or 216-593-2815.
