Andrew Zelman, CEO of Euclid Media Group, has been awarded the 2014 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Established by Donna and the late Bennett Yanowitz, the award recognizes and honors an outstanding young individual who has demonstrated commitment, involvement, and leadership within Cleveland’s Jewish community. Zelman was presented the award at the Federation’s Board meeting on January 22.

“It is an incredible honor to be recognized as the recipient of the Yanowitz Award,” Zelman said. “In both the Jewish and general community, I have strived to exemplify the leadership qualities associated with this award. I look at the past recipients who have done incredible work in our community, and I just hope to follow in their footsteps and continue to grow.”

Zelman, of downtown Cleveland, has been actively involved in the community for several years. He currently serves as Chair of the Federation’s Young Leadership Division (YLD) and Co-Chair of the Ben-Gurion Society, and previously served as YLD Vice-Chair. Zelman has also been actively involved in the Federation’s Campaign for Jewish Needs, where he previously served as YLD Campaign Chair.

In addition to his involvement with the Federation, Zelman has served on numerous Jewish organization boards. He is a director of the Cleveland Hillel Foundation, a board member of ORT Cleveland, a past board member of JCLE, and an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Glass Leadership Institute graduate. He is also a board member of Engage!Cleveland.

As CEO of Euclid Media Group, Zelman runs Scene, the Cleveland alternative weekly and website publication, as well as three other publications across the country. Zelman is a former sales and marketing executive, with a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University.

The Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award replaced the Marvin and Milton Kane Award, previously known as the Ed Baker Award. The award has been given annually since the early 1960’s. As recipient of the Yanowitz Award, Zelman is invited to join the Cleveland delegation to a General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America.
