Why We Volunteer with Bikur Cholim of Cleveland
- Share This Story
Between the screen and the front door to Wendy’s house is the hastily placed sign:
“Please place food on kitchen counter. Thank you!”
And in troop the Bikur Cholim volunteers who come to deliver, pack, and distribute the special Shabbos meals to hospitals, homes, and Bikur Cholim houses to take care of patients who come from all over the world for their medical care in Cleveland.
Sharing tins, foil, plastic wrap, and sturdy Bikur Cholim bags, delicious and even diet specific meals are lovingly prepared and faithfully delivered to give the ill a taste and feel of home.
The volunteers greet each other with a cheery “Have a good Shabbos” or “Shabbat Shalom” as they maneuver into and out of Wendy’s very busy driveway in mini-vans, SUVs, sedans, and even by foot.
Volunteer and become a vital link in this group who lovingly anticipate and care for the needs of others. Experience the joy of knowing that you make a difference, not only with the delicious food you deliver, but with your greeting, smile, and show of concern. Enrich your own life while you ease the pain and loneliness of another!
