September 25, 2016 – this is not your typical Sunday. No, September 25 is Super Sunday! This year, the Campaign for Jewish Needs takes on a special meaning for Jordan and Rochie Berkowitz. They’re co-chairing the event for the second year in a row – and now, as a family of 7.

We recently had the chance to sit down with them to hear their thoughts on the ‘big day.’

Q – How would you describe Super Sunday?

A: It’s really a day of community engagement. It’s a time for everyone to get together and understand what the Federation does and learn what our community has to offer. It’s definitely a point of pride for Clevelanders when you think about the Jewish Federation and the amazing scope that they have.

Q – How does Super Sunday bring the community together?

A: When you think about all the Federation does for the Cleveland community, it’s a no-brainer. That’s really the strength behind the Federation - that everyone comes together and that’s why Super Sunday is so successful. It’s not the dollars; it’s just that recharging, that recommitment to helping each other.

Q – What are three words to describe Super Sunday?

A: Community, Unity and Inspiration.

You leave excited, you leave energized, you leave feeling lucky and so proud to be part of a community that has such an organization that really reaches out and that everyone is so invested in everyone’s success.

The word tzedakah – it doesn’t mean ‘charity’ when you translate it; it literally means ‘righteousness.’ If you look at the mission of the Federation, it’s all about ‘doing the right thing,’ giving money to the community and divvying it up in the right way.

Q – Last year, you were a family of 6; how does it feel to be a family of 7 this year?

A: It’s awesome! It’s not just something we do as adults, but it’s something the kids can be involved in. It’s meaningful for them because they can see their parents are involved in a community organization and they get to be a part of that, too. With them starting young, they’ll be able to get the most they can out of their engagement with the Federation.

You can get the most out of Super Sunday and meet Jordan, Rochie and the rest of their family September 25 at the Jewish Federation! Register Now.
