David Horovitz is a renowned journalist, award-winning author, and Founding Editor of The Times of Israel. He joins us as featured speaker at the 111th Annual Meeting of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland to discuss, “Behind the Headlines: What the American Media is Not Telling Us.”
Under Horovitz’s leadership, The Times of Israel has become a leading Jerusalem-based current affairs website that provides independent coverage of Israel, the region, and the Jewish world. Since its inception in February 2012, the publication has grown rapidly in readership and has been welcomed for its engaging, fair-minded journalism.
Horovitz previously served as editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post, Israel’s English-language daily. In his almost seven years as editor, Horovitz moved The Jerusalem Post to the center of the Israeli-Diaspora discourse, and helped to build the publication’s website as the world’s most-read English-language Jewish news site.
Additionally, Horovitz has contributed to The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Irish Times, and (London) Independent. He is a frequent interviewee on CNN, BBC, NPR, and other TV and radio stations.
He has conducted landmark interviews with many Israeli and international figures, including all of Israel’s recent prime ministers, Presidents Barack Obama and George Bush, Tony Blair, and Vladimir Putin.
Horovitz is a graduate of Hebrew University in Jerusalem and immigrated to Israel from London in 1983. He and his wife, Lisa, have three children.
