Shavuot is a holiday celebrating the time when the Jewish people harvested their last grain of the season, and begin harvesting their fruit crops. A tradition is eating dairy foods including cheesecake, blintzes, and quiches to symbolize the kosher food laws in the Torah.

Each year, the Federation’s Community Relations Committee (CRC) hosts our Tu B’Shevat Seder to bring together more than 100 members of the Greater Cleveland community to celebrate our shared Earth. Community member shared their thoughts on how they will honor the Earth in the year ahead.

Each year, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland hosts a Purim celebration for all staff to enjoy. One of the most competitive activities of the day is the Hamentashen baking contests, where staff show off their baking skills and creativity in the kitchen. As Jews, we are given an awesome gift; Shabbos. Shabbat is the best day of the week. On Shabbos, we get to take a step back from the chaotic, busy lives that we all live and appreciate everything that we have been given.

took me several days, but I have recovered from all the excitement of co-chairing the 3rd Annual Cleveland Shabbos Project Challah Bake that took place at the Cleveland Convention Center on November 10. With nearly 1500 women in attendance, it was the largest Cleveland Challah Bake yet.
