Cheryl Davis, Community Relations Committee Chair

We are horrified by Tuesday morning's attack on innocent worshippers in a Jerusalem synagogue, a place that should be a beacon of safety and security. We mourn with the families of Rabbis Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, Aryeh Kupinsky, Moshe Twersky and Kalman Zeev, and Druze policeman Zidan Saif, and pray for the 25 children they collectively leave behind. Both the global community and the Palestinian leadership must condemn this attack unequivocally. We stand united for peace. We stand united for Israel.

Senator Sherrod Brown

WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement in response to the attack this morning on a synagogue in Jerusalem where four men were killed, including three dual U.S.-Israeli citizens:

“I condemn the attack of worshipers in any house of faith and am particularly saddened by the brutality of the attack on the Israelis praying in West Jerusalem today. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who were injured and the families of those who were killed.”

Brown is a cosponsor of the U.S.-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2014 which would facilitate an increase in U.S.-Israeli cooperation on defense and would reiterate U.S. support for a peaceful negotiated political settlement between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Senator Rob Portman

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) released the following statement on the terrorist attack in Jerusalem:

“My prayers are with the Israeli people after today’s horrific terrorist attack in Jerusalem,” Portman stated. “The U.S. must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel and continue our strong strategic partnership in the face of increasing dangers in the Middle East.”
