In past years, Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Community Relations Committee (CRC) has partnered with the Kol Israel Foundation to host the Yom Hashoah Creative Arts Contest for Jewish and non-Jewish middle school and high school students.

Above is a video that takes you inside the creative process at St. Joseph Academy as they prepare their artwork for entry in 2019.

We look forward to hosting this contest again in future years, and sharing the importance of Holocaust education in schools across Northeast Ohio.

We hope you'll join our community on April 7 at 7 pm for the Federation and Kol Israel Foundation's virtual Yom Hashoah V'Hagvurah program.

This year's theme is "Rescuers", recognizing the brave individuals who rescued Jews during the Holocaust. We are honored to be joined by Barbara Winton, daughter of Sir Nicholas Winton, who organized the rescue of 669 children from Czechoslovakia to Great Britain.

Our online program will also feature:

  • Remarks by Rabbi Scott Roland, Congregation Shaarey Tikvah
  • Candle-lighting by Holocaust survivors
  • Music and memorial prayers

All are invited to light a memorial candle in their own homes in memory of those who perished in the Shoah. Candles will be available for pick-up. Information will be provided to those who register.
