We need your input! Help us identify Cleveland's emerging Jewish leaders for the 2015 Mandel Symposium, one of the premier leadership development programs of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

The Symposium, an “issues based” leadership course, seeks to engage, educate, and empower our community’s emerging leaders. The Symposium is geared for individuals who are at the beginning of their leadership path – individuals who have shown a commitment to our community and have shown potential to move into leadership roles.

The Symposium will meet approximately every 3-4 weeks from April through September. Sessions scheduled in three-hour blocks are held at an array of agencies and presented in an environment designed to foster interaction between presenters and peers. Past Symposium topics include: History of Cleveland's Jewish Community; Jewish Education and Continuity; Community Relations; How to Fund a Jewish Community; Our Brothers and Sisters – Israel and Overseas; and, Who Do We Serve and Why?

Here's how you can help. Please take a moment to consider who you know that may be qualified and interested, and nominate them for the Mandel Symposium by completing the nomination form (one form per candidate). The information you provide will be extremely valuable as the Mandel Symposium Selection Committee embarks on its work.

Responses may be faxed to 216-593-2901 or emailed to Jill Pupa, Director of Leadership Engagement, at jpupa@jcfcleve.org by Monday, February 23. For additional information or questions about the Mandel Symposium, please call Jill at 216-593-2888.

Thank you for helping to ensure the vitality of our fantastic Cleveland Jewish community!

Here's What Alumni are Saying about the Mandel Symposium:

“It was great to be part of such a group of talented young professionals. I learned from them and found it rewarding personally and professionally. Before participating in the Mandel Symposium, I always supported the community, but this experience gave me a solid understanding of just how much our Federation, the various agencies and the Jewish community in general accomplishes here in Cleveland, nationally and abroad. One of the highlights was spending a day on Capitol Hill hearing from our elected officials and playing a role in public policy issues which impact us all."

– Abby Stadlin, Owner of Dunn Hardware

“I found the Mandel Symposium to be quite enlightening. Through planned agency visits and personal stories, I now have a much better understanding on how our annual Federation campaign contributions impact the community. I would recommend participation in the Mandel Symposium to any interested parties."

– Evan S. Hirsch, Esq., Jones Day

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time engaging in the Mandel Symposium. The time spent with my cohorts was meaningful work and helped me understand the various tentacles of the Federation and the importance of giving back both monetarily and from a leadership perspective. My husband and I moved from Detroit 6 years prior to the time I started, and we were both looking to deepen our understanding and link to the Cleveland Jewish Community and the Symposium provided that forum. I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of Jewish leaders who spent time to speak to our group and also helped me to start on my journey within the community.”

– Meredith Hillman, Regional Vice President, Hello World
