We are outraged by yet another senseless, violent, anti-Semitic attack on an American synagogue, this time at the Chabad in Poway, California. This attack is a sad reminder of the threat that anti-Semitism and hate are to our world. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims, their families, and the Jewish community in San Diego.

Jason Wuliger has been awarded the 2018 Bennett and Donna Yanowitz Leadership Award by the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. The award recognizes and honors an outstanding young individual who has demonstrated commitment, involvement, and leadership within Cleveland’s Jewish community. Wuliger will be presented with the award at the Federation’s Board meeting on April 30.

I have always loved Passover. Beyond the food and family, the centerpiece of the seder is magid, the recitation of the story of how we were slaves in Egypt. We – all of us, together. This begins the Exodus, the first large-scale and lengthy (40 years!) community mission to the land of Israel. We tell the story each year to friends and family, with special emphasis on making sure that the next generation understands that they too are an important part of this story – the story of the Jewish family.

Volunteers with the American Red Cross are trained to help people in their darkest hours, by providing help and hope. On average, The American Red Cross responds to three disasters every 24 hours in Northeast Ohio, the vast majority of which are home fires. Red Cross volunteers help residents prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters like home fires, as well as floods and other emergencies.
