Volunteer for a Jewish Federation of Cleveland program and you never know what you’re going to get. Three years ago, I signed up for the Federation’s “Conversation Partners” program, or Medabrim in Hebrew. Developed by Mark Holz, volunteer chair of the Beit Shean subcommittee, the program aimed to support select Beit Shean residents in improving their English by practicing speaking the language.

Zikaron BaSalon is an opportunity for Jewish Clevelanders in their 20s, 30s, and 40s to honor the victims and survivors of the Holocaust through personal conversations with a local Holocaust survivor. With the number of survivors declining, it's the responsibility of the second and third generations to continue telling these stories and keep the memory of the Holocaust alive.

In November 2022, 25 teens and two ShinShinim (Israeli emissaries) from Jewish Cleveland traveled through Atlanta, Montgomery, and Birmingham to discuss the Jewish involvement in the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 60s.
