#GivingTuesday Comes to Jewish CLE

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland has joined #GivingTuesday, a new effort that will transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with Thanksgiving, the holiday shopping season, and the Federation’s 2015 Campaign for Jewish Needs, #GivingTuesday will inspire community members to take action to improve Cleveland’s Jewish and general communities. Together, on December 2, 2014, we will help create a better world.
The Federation has collaborated with eight local organizations, The Agnon School, Bellefaire JCB, B’nai Jeshurun Congregation, Gross Schechter Day School, Jewish Family Service Association (JFSA), Mandel Jewish Community Center, Menorah Park, and Montefiore to ensure that donations received on #GivingTuesday do twice the good. When a donor gives to a participating organization on December 2, a match up to $100 goes to the Federation’s Campaign for Jewish Needs to support both the organization and the community as a whole.
New donors can also give directly to the Federation and their gift will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100 in support of the Campaign. So, a $100 gift becomes a $200 gift thanks to a generous matching grant, specific to the Federation’s #GivingTuesday initiative.
The national #GivingTuesday effort, established by the 92nd Street Y, channels the generous spirit of the holiday season to inspire action around charitable giving. Today, with the help of the United Nations Foundation and other founding partners, more than 13,000 diverse organizations have joined the movement and are providing creative ways that people can embrace #GivingTuesday.
