The Jewish Federation of Cleveland, in partnership with Anti-Defamation League (ADL), AJC Cleveland, Facing History and Ourselves, Mandel JCC, Kol Israel Foundation, Maltz Museum, and The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio hosted SHINE A LIGHT on Antisemitism, a special menorah lighting on December 20 for people of all faiths to renew a collective commitment to fighting the rapidly escalating modern-day antisemitism and Jew hatred.

Thank you to our event speakers for their inspiring remarks:

  • Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, Catholic Diocese of Cleveland
  • Helen Forbes Fields, Esq., President and CEO, YWCA Greater Cleveland
  • Rabbi Hal Rudin-Luria, B’nai Jeshurun Congregation

We also appreciate the elected officials who joined alongside hundreds of Clevelanders of all faiths and backgrounds at the event:

  • Rep. Shontel Brown
  • Rep. Steve Demetriou III
  • Mayor Eddy Kraus

CLEVELAND LANDMARKS LIT BLUE IN SUPPORT

In addition, various Cleveland landmarks were lit in a blue light during Chanukah (December 18 – 26) as a sign of support for this effort. Cleveland is the only city in the country with three professional sports teams in which all three teams are taking this unified, demonstrated stand against hatred toward the Jewish community. Participating landmarks included:

  • Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
  • Terminal Tower
  • FirstEnergy Stadium
  • Progressive Field
  • Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
  • Van Aken District
  • Maltz Museum
  • Jewish Federation of Cleveland
