Systems Administrator

About the Systems Administrator Position:

The Systems Administrator works as an integral member of the Federation Technology Services team and has responsibility for maintaining the Federation’s help desk, providing high quality technology support services to Federation staff, and directing those activities in coordination with the rest of the Technology Services team. This Systems Administrator will also work alongside the team to maintain the Federation’s network and computing environment.

Essential Functions:

Help Desk Services

  • Provide first line technology support to Federation users and systems
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical hardware and/or software issues
  • Manage ticket queues and triage of issues as they arrive
  • Provide quick resolution and excellent customer service
  • Escalate issues to appropriate resources and ensure ticket completion

Documentation and Knowledgebase

  • Regularly update and maintain internal IT and Federation user knowledgebase
  • Identify support ticket trends and recommend opportunities for proactive support
  • Create documentation including screenshots and detailed guides for user self-service

Inventory Management

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all Federation desktops, laptops, and other user devices
  • Maintain inventory management system along with warranty information
  • Ensure appropriate hardware inventory levels and make recommendations for additional purchases
  • Maintain appropriate levels of software licenses
  • Order hardware and software as needed and coordinating with users for deployment

System Administration

  • Stay current on latest technology and information security trends and make recommendations for potential use at the Federation
  • Collaborate with your peers and management to ensure the optimum operation of all systems
  • Assist with System administration that includes regular monitoring, maintenance, problem resolution, and support of key components of Federation’s software, hardware, and IT services

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science/Engineering, or similar field of study
  • 3+ years of experience in Help Desk/Systems Administration
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking including switching, routing, VLANs, DNS, and wired/wireless connectivity
  • Microsoft Windows network management including Windows Server 2016 and 2019, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Managing Windows 10 workstations in a Windows domain
  • Experience with Office 365 management and administration, including Exchange Online, Mobile Device Management, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure AD
  • Understanding of information security fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VOIP phone systems
  • Backup and Disaster recovery solutions
  • Certifications in one or more of the following: relevant Microsoft technologies, VMware, networking, or information security
  • PowerShell experience
  • VMware Horizon
